How many constituencies are there in Zambia in 2026?
There are 226 constituencies in the 2026 Zambian general election. The 2026 constitutional amendment raised the number from 156, and also created reserved seats for women, youth and persons with disabilities.
The older figure of 156 is still widely quoted, including in places on the Electoral Commission's own website, which is one reason results coverage sometimes disagrees about the denominator. The count that matters for the presidential result is the one the Commission reports against: 4 of 226 declared so far.
This matters more than it sounds. Reporting percentages are a fraction, and if two trackers use different denominators they will disagree about how far along the count is even when they agree on every vote.
